Market Policies

Our market policies are here to help keep Kittery Community Market safe, welcoming, and running smoothly for everyone. Please review the information below for important guidelines related to market operations, guests, parking, animals, fundraising, and more.

Weather

Kittery Community Market is a rain-or-shine event. However, the market will be closed in the event of lightning, tornado warnings, hurricane warnings, icy conditions, or sustained winds above 30 MPH.

2

Tobacco Policy

Kittery Community Market is a smoke-free event and space. Smoking, vaping, and the use of tobacco products, e-cigarettes, or medical marijuana are not permitted anywhere on market grounds or within 20 feet of Post Office Square buildings.

3

Pet Policy

Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome at the market. Service animals are welcome as permitted by law.

Dog owners are responsible for ensuring that their dog does not relieve itself within the market area. If a dog goes to the bathroom anywhere on the property, the owner must clean it up immediately.

Dogs must remain under the owner’s control at all times. Retractable or extension leashes are discouraged in the crowded market environment. Any dog showing aggressive behavior must be removed from the market area immediately.

If a dog is disruptive, repeatedly bothers customers or vendors, creates excessive noise, or otherwise presents a safety concern, the owner may be asked to remove the dog from the market area. Market staff reserves the right to determine whether an animal is creating a disruption or safety concern.

4

Community Organizations, Nonprofits & Fundraising

Kittery Community Market reserves space each week for one nonprofit or community organization, subject to approval and availability. Organizations must provide proof of general liability insurance and may not be politically affiliated.

Political groups, political causes, and political organizations are not permitted to set up within or immediately adjacent to the market area. Any group wishing to set up elsewhere on the property during market hours must first obtain permission from the property owners.

Fundraising organizations may only participate as pre-approved guests of the market. Groups without prior approval may not solicit customers within the market area. Any fundraising activity elsewhere on the property also requires property owner approval.

5

Customer Purchases & Vendor Responsibility

All transactions take place directly between vendors and customers. Kittery Community Market is not responsible for product quality, refunds, exchanges, or disputes related to vendor sales. Customers with questions or concerns about a purchase should contact the vendor directly.

6

Parking & Traffic

Additional parking is available on Shapleigh Road, at KeyBank, and at Kennebunk Savings. Please refrain from parking at neighboring businesses that are open during market hours.

For everyone’s safety, please drive slowly and use caution in all parking lots and surrounding areas.

Market management reserves the right to interpret and enforce these policies as needed
