Vouchers for Veterans

Each September, Kittery Community Market is proud to host Vouchers for Veterans. This program provides veterans and active-duty service members with food vouchers to use directly with local farmers and food producers.

How It Works

Look for the red "Vouchers for Veterans" tent at the market's center entrance. Every Sunday in September, veterans and active-duty service members from Maine and New Hampshire can stop by the tent to receive $20 in market vouchers. Just bring your military ID. Vouchers can be used on food purchases from any of our food vendors, just hand them over like you would at any market stand. Vouchers must be used in full and cannot be redeemed for change.

Why It Matters

This program does two things at once: it increases access to fresh local food for people who have served, and it directs real dollars to the farmers and vendors who make up our market community. For many participants, it’s also simply a meaningful moment of recognition, a way for their neighbors to say thank you.
